Worldclass fishing in a safe environment
Troutland area in Central Finland includes over 10 km of excellent private brown trout water and offers world class fly fishing in a safe environment with professional guides. This is one of the best wild brown trout fisheries in Europe at the moment.
Fishing guides will take the guests to all the best waters on the region at the time.
The best time to catch these large trout is from June to the end of August.
The fishing experience is, for example, quite similar to trout fishing on the world-famous rivers of the Kola Peninsula, despite the rivers being smaller; on the other hand, the trout are larger in size.
The average width of the rapids is 25 to 40 meters and less than 1km in length -which makes them relatively easy to fish. Wading is possible in most part of the rivers and our fishing guides will help you to get started with wading.
We also use the drift boats at some of the spots to make the fishing even more enjoyable.
Besides the brown trout, fishermen are also interested in grayling running in the river systems. Every summer, the largest grayling caught are well over 50 cm (20 inch) in-length.
In addition to grayling and brown trout, perch, zander and large pike can be fished for in the area.

The fishing guides at the troutland area are all experienced professionals who really know all the waters they are guiding. Jani Himanko and Petri Korhonen are the “head guides” who run the operation in our waters along with four other guides. They all speak good English.
Jani has more than twenty years of experience in fishing tourism and the fishing tackle industry. Owner of the Kellankoski Lodge.
Some anglers recognized Jani from TV shows, videos and pages in both Finnish and foreign anglers’ magazines and videos. Jani continues to submit articles to Metsästys ja Kalastus – and PohjolanPerhokalastaja, two Finnish magazines focusing on hunting and fishing.
Jani has been a professional fishing guide since 2001. He started his operations at the Kapeenkoski and Kuusaankoski rapids. Jani feels that he is most at home when he is fishing for trout and grayling at rapids, as well as for zander in running water.
Jani, who started fishing at the age of six, says that he is a “mixuser” – in other words, he likes to fish with both lure and fly. In his free time, he enjoys fishing most when his mobile phone and internet connections are switched off.
Jani Himanko was awarded with the “Fisherman of the year” – award in 2023 and was inducted to the Finnish fishing Hall of Fame in the same year.
Born and raised on the Rautalampi waterway, Petri”Eräspete” Korhonen imbibed his love for fishing for brown trout with his mother’s milk. His hard-to-translate nickname is a reference to his being a true outdoor enthusiast.
Pete’s hunger to put the client on fish is unparalleled and normally gives the client great fishing experiences on the water. His strongest side is naturally fishing for trout in rapids using both lures and flies.
Petri also ties flies for sale. The flies are the kind of flies that the client needs and are primarily made to catch fish.
When fishing on lakes, Petri uses a Tracker Pro Guide fishing boat equipped with the necessary Humminbird / Minnkota electronics.
In addition to fishing, Pete is an experienced hunter and game warden. In fact, hunting trips in Finland and abroad are good part of the Eräspete’syearly business.
In his free time, Petespendshis hours in the wilderness, of course.
